Cap St Georges has the distinction of standing proudly at the heart of one of the most prestigious areas within the wider Paphos region.
Within easy reach are beaches and sites of picturesque beauty, which are ideal for fishing and sailing. Further afield is the stunning area known as Fontana Amorosa: perfect for a day trip by boat. Venture into Akamas to visit the turtle breeding ground of Lara Bay, and Ayia Matrona church with its unobstructed views of the sea, followed by a leisurely hike at Avakas Gorge. When feeling in need of refreshment, drive up to Pikni forest for a back-to-basics picnic, followed by a tour and tasting at one of the local wineries. The traditional café and dining outlet, Perivoli, also makes for a great way to discover the local cuisine. Those in need of livelier pursuits may like to try their hand at horse riding, or a round of golf at one of the nearby championship-level golf courses. Not forgetting younger guests, a trip to Paphos Zoo always makes for a fun day out for the family.

Set Sail: Fishing and Yacht Hire

Set sail in discovering some of Paphos' most charming gems of natural beauty. The remote area of Fontana Amorosa (which translates to 'Fountain of Love', a name inherited thanks to its association with Aphrodite, Ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty) is best accessed by boat. Hire a yacht and take a private day trip to bathe in the cool, turquoise waters, surrounded by sheer cliffs reaching down to the shoreline. Stop off at Latchi harbour on your way back and enjoy fresh fish whilst beholding the spectacular sunset.

Alternatively, visit the picturesque harbour at Ayios Georgios to embark on a fishing trip!

Ayios Georgios and Akamas National Park

Venture into Akamas National Park and visit Lara Bay. Besides being an isolated, expansive bay with azure sea and golden sand, Lara Bay also serves as a turtle breeding ground. Nets protect the nests, and a conservation station provides information for visitors, with volunteers on hand to safeguard the hatchlings making their way down the sand to the sea under the moonlight.

On your way back, stop off at Ayia Matrona (Saint Matrona) church, poised on a hilltop, its white walls shining in the sun with unobstructed views of the sea.

Closer to home still is the church of Ayios Georgios (Saint George). The namesake church on the clifftop is perfect for quiet reflection, whilst the nearby beach of White River is private and peaceful: ideal for early morning or sunset swims.

VIP Tours of Paphos Zoo

Hidden atop an expansive hillside, Paphos Zoo began life as a dedicated bird park. Today, its modern and well-kept facilities are home to a variety of animals, including giraffes, elephants, and lions. Hiking, Wining and Picnic Dining

With its varied landscape, lush flora and unique fauna, Paphos is perfect for exploration. A host of dedicated hiking trails - mapped and signposted - are available nearby, one of the most distinguished of which is Avakas Gorge. With sheer rock faces on either side of the trail, exploring the gorge is humbling and otherworldly. Pikni forest is ideal for both a quiet getaway and lively adventure depending on your preference, and comes complete with a well-kept picnic area for a leisurely afternoon of back-to-basics dining. Further up and deeper into the hillsides will deliver explorers to quaint and traditional wineries that employ the use of Cyprus' indigenous grape varieties - the most famous of which are Xynisteri and Maratheftiko - in the production of unique local wines. Enjoy the tour, sip the wines, savour the traditional cheese and charcuterie, and toast to the joie de vivre.
